Rubber Duckie

from Back Door Blues Review by Leigh Harris

/

about

This is probably the first recording of Leigh with a band - the Back Door Blues Review, recorded live at Tipitina's, date unknown. The original tape was not recorded well, and the mix changes constantly throughout the performance. We did teh best we could to get it to a listenable level.

This recording is probably before John Magnie joined with Leigh. It is difficult to reconstruct her early history, but, as best as can be determined, she was picked up to sing for the band, which included John Mooney on guitar, Brooklyn Bob on piano, Matthew Allen on bass, Buddy Shute on drums, and T (?) Ben Hersh on sax. We do know form flyers that they performed regularly at Tip's. And at some point, Leigh and John Magnie were asked to do a duet show on a Monday night, and that begat the Percolators. Leigh and Johnny did the Tchefuncte Campgrounds festival, as both a duet and as Percolators, too.
