about

As far as we know, this is the first Recording of Leigh with a band, taken in the early days of Tipitina's. Much effort was made to improve the sound quality, but the tracks are still rough, so this is more of a historical recording for her fans. This originally was a board tape, recorded onto cassette, with the sound engineer and the band changing their levels as the night wore on. Leigh sings as if she was decades older, and, as always, her voice and interpretation shines like a beacon.

The Back Door Blues review band, was headed by John Mooney on guitar and Leigh sang. The BDBR played often in the early days of Tip's.

The musicians on thsi recording are supposed to be:
Leigh Harris - Vocals
John Mooney - guitar and vocals
Buddy Shute - drums
John Magnie or possibly Brooklyn Robert - keyboards
Matthew Allen - bass
Ben Hersh - sax
but this information came from an old flyer, so there is no way to verify. If anyone has any information, please drop us an email.
